I have been a professional artist for over 30 years and have appeared in a number of shows and galleries over the years. My specialty is in capturinng the "feel" of a scene, a moment, or in the beauty of motion of a living creature. I love the art of making art, be it the subtleties of shadow and contrast in a pencil drawing, the pulling together of color in an oil painting, or the filtering of light in a watercolor. The making of art pieces has been the delight and refreshment of my life, being particularly fascinated with the beauty and motion of animals of all kinds, especially birds. Their body structure, flexibility, shape, color, as well as their temperment and body movements make for an interesting study and are a delight to capture on canvas or paper. They all have their own personalities.
Primarily a self-taught artist, I have taken a few classes from other artists whom I admire, none of whom are well-known yet but had good insights to offer.
I have received a number of recognitions over the years, the most outstanding being a Purchase Award by New York Times Art Editor John Canaday and the two years sequentiel exhibition in the Alliance Gallery of the Indianapolis Museum of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as the Professional Division of the Indiana State Fair also in Indianapolis. I have also participated in the Oklahoma Wildlife Art Federation Show for two years in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
My home is in Matthews, North Carolina.
